Along with its new ePrint-enabled Officejet and LaserJet printers, HP today also showed off its latest large-format inkboxes with cloud-based printing features.

The Designjet T2300 eMultifunction Printer is targeted at design houses and architecture firms which need to print, scan or copy large sheets of drafts. Gido van Praag, vice president of the Graphics Solutions Business in HP for Asia Pacific, demonstrated how it works.

First, an AutoCad file was converted into PDF format and sent out via email to the printer, which was able to access the Web, retrieve and output the blueprint. The physical printout was then amended with a pen, scanned using the T2300 and sent back. The receiver of the edited file showed us the scanned image on his iPhone.

This is quite an interesting feature and definitely something that will help boost productivity levels for creative publishers and architects. While such a function is already available on HP's Photosmart, Officejet and LaserJet series of printers, this is a first for a large-format inkbox, said the Palo Alto company."
