LTE: Malaysia: Maxis to Invest RM Half Billion for LTE Network.

Malaysia's communications service provider Maxis Berhad is ready to launch 4G LTE service following the allocation of the 2600 MHz spectrum band for 4G LTE by Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) on 5 December 2012. As part of its ongoing network investments, Maxis has allocated RM half a billion over the next three years to launch LTE services.

Maxis has been trialling LTE for 2 years and conducting extensive LTE interworking tests in a live network environment using commercial devices. Now operator is all set to launch LTE services in Malaysia and expects to roll out LTE network across various parts of the country in the next few years.

Operator has already signed an important agreement with Redtone to build common infrastructure following its sign up with U-Mobile in July 2012.

The Company's 3G / HSPA+ network is currently available to 81% population coverage from 5,200 sites. Whereas its HSPA+ dual carrier network has over 3,500 sites covering most major towns nationwide and supports speeds of up to 42 Mbps.
