mHealthSummit2012: iHealth Partners with Evernote and Practice Fusion to Bring Doctors and Patients Better Data for Healthier Living.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jess.

iHealth Partners with Evernote and Practice Fusion to Bring Doctors and Patients Better Data for Healthier Living.

Information from iHealth's wireless scales, blood pressure monitors and other personal health devices will help consumers remember everything and doctors to track health changes automatically.

iHealth Labs Inc., the pioneering designer and manufacturer of mobile personal healthcare products for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, today announced a new partnership with Evernote, the company that's helping the world remember everything, and Practice Fusion, the largest doctor-patient community. This new partnership lets consumers track and share their results in Evernote, and enables the efficient communication of relevant health information between patients and their physicians in Practice Fusion.

"iHealth's products make it simple to track personal health information, including weight, blood pressure, blood glucose and more with easy-to-use devices that provide valuable information," said Adam Lin, general manager of iHealth Labs. "But that information is even more useful when paired with popular services such as Practice Fusion's Electronic Medical Record, or Evernote's application which make it easy to remember almost everything."

Evernote users will see their iHealth readings show up in their personal Evernote account as a Results Card, with weight and BMI data for scales, and systolic and diastolic readings along with pulse rate for blood pressure. For blood pressure readings, the Results card also displays a helpful graph showing relative results and level of hypertension. Users have the ability to annotate the individual Results Cards with additional information within Evernote. At the end of each week, a summary card is generated in Evernote that shows the week's data at-a-glance.

"Evernote puts all the information that's important to you at your fingertips via almost any device," said Alex Pachikov, VP of Partnerships, Evernote. "Integrating with iHealth means important health data can be saved alongside other relevant information in Evernote. Through that context and instant accessibility, those metrics become even more meaningful to users over time."

iHealth's new partnership with Practice Fusion will encompass two initiatives to start. First off, medical professionals looking for ways to empower their patients to track and improve their own health can now provide them with special offers and access to order iHealth devices directly through Practice Fusion. In the near future, the data tracked by iHealth's products will seamlessly flow into the Practice Fusion Patient Health Record (PHR), Patient Fusion, delivering a more complete picture of a person's vitals and facilitating improved communication between patients and their clinical care team.

"Practice Fusion enables the secure and speedy flow of electronic health records between patients and caregivers," said Todd Martin, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Practice Fusion. "Partnering with iHealth improves our offering by combining our shared vision of efficient healthcare, where patients play an active role in monitoring their health, are empowered with knowledge and can communicate with their caregivers easily and efficiently."

iHealth Labs is demonstrating these new partnerships and their latest medical devices at the mHealth conference in Washington, D.C. this week, appearing in booth 1212.

mHealthSummit2012: AT&T Unveils RPM Software-as-a-Service, Enhanced by AT&T Foundry

The House Call Reinvented: Video Creates Personal Doctor-Patient Connection Via Cloud-Based Remote Patient Monitoring Service

Today's patient-centered model puts the responsibility on healthcare providers to understand more about their patients outside of the hospital. Remote patient monitoring (RPM) technology is reinventing the age-old notion of the house call. Now, that house call can happen over video on a wirelessly connected tablet.

AT&T* plans to deliver a new cloud-based RPM Software-as-a Service (SaaS) from Ericsson that utilizes its service enablement platform and Intuitive Health software to facilitate better management of chronic diseases and help reduce hospital readmissions. The interactive service's video component will provide helpful coaching, reminders and health education. AT&T has been piloting the RPM SaaS solution with large health systems, academic medical centers and home care providers. It is expected to be available in 2013.

The AT&T RPM SaaS will join the AT&T ForHealth(SM) suite of RPM services that includes an end-to-end managed RPM service powered by Valued Relationships Inc. The end-to-end service allows a nurse-staffed telemonitoring center to monitor patients around the clock, following standard of care guidelines established by physicians and healthcare providers and using an open architecture that supports Bluetooth-enabled devices.

How AT&T RPM SaaS Works:
Patients will be able to check vitals daily using Bluetooth-enabled devices and easily make the data available to their providers, helping to improve quality of care and potentially saving time, money and healthcare resources.

  • Data is automatically collected from wirelessly connected personal health devices such as blood pressure cuffs, weight scales and pulse oximeters, and sent over the AT&T network to the cloud-based system from Ericsson.
  • Healthcare providers can access the information through a highly-secure portal, designed to comply with HIPAA's Security Rule requirements.
  • Since the data is collected electronically, it can be shared among multiple caregivers and physicians through a highly-secure infrastructure, eliminating information gaps and duplication in reporting and helping to provide a more well-rounded view of the patient.
  • The Intuitive Health application helps providers to implement and manage care plans and integrate the resulting data with clinician workflows.
"Live, on-demand, two-way video enables a personal connection for the patient and doctor, extending the relationship beyond the hospital walls," said Geeta Nayyar, M.D., Chief Medical Information Officer, AT&T ForHealth, AT&T Business Solutions. "Video makes it possible for a physician to see clinical signs and indicators such as skin color, mood, affect and determine whether a patient is utilizing devices and medications appropriately."

The Evolution of RPM:
The approach evolved from AT&T and Intuitive Health's work with Texas Health Resources using RPM technology to support a research study that will be completed in December 2013. The AT&T Foundry worked with AT&T ForHealth, Ericsson and Intuitive Health to enhance the solution by integrating real-time high definition video, allowing customers to access their applications and services from nearly anywhere and almost any device. This AT&T Foundry work has implications across a number of Health IT solutions where presence and video can help increase engagement and efficacy.

AT&T's RPM solutions will be demonstrated at booth #801 at the mHealth Summit in the Washington DC area from Dec. 3-5, 2012.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesùs.

Official : Nokia and Microsoft send out invitations for the Sept 5 event in NYC.

The event will take place in New York at 9:30 A.M  . What Nokia and Microsoft are going to announce or unveil?

Speculations about a new line of Lumias with WP8  and dual-cores and quad-core cpus, for the software based when Microsoft gave us a sneak peek at Windows Phone 8, AKA Apollo, back in June:

Windows Phone 8 will share a kernel, file system, media foundation, device drivers, and parts of the security model of Windows 8, and is due out in the fall. Packing support for multi-core processors, displays up to 1280x768, and external SD storage, Windows Phone 8 will bring Internet Explorer 10 to Windows Phone devices as well as in-app purchases, , and improved enterprise features (including device management for administrators, Office apps, support for BitLocker encryption, and secure boot mode).

Maybe NFC beam share technology on board?

At this time  we believe Nokia have to match a lot with the competiton have out there and with what is upcoming in September 12.

Huawei targets 60 million smartphones shipments in 2012.

According to Digitimes Huawei Technologies, a China-based vendor of telecom equipment and mobile and home-use terminal devices, has set global target shipments of 60 million smartphones in 2012, thereby standing a chance of becoming the world's third largest vendor of smartphones, according to the company's corporate media relations vice president Scott Sykes.
Of the 60 million smartphones, 20 million units will be shipped in the China market. Huawei shipped 60 million handsets in 2011, with 20 million units of which being smartphones, Sykes indicated. Huawei has launched more than 40 models of smartphones in many markets including China, the US, Europe, Japan and India, and has set aside a marketing budget of US$200 million mainly for sales promotion of smartphones in 2012.
Huawei adopts two operational models for smartphone business, one is ODM production of customized models for mobile telecom carriers, the other is sale of own-brand models through retail channels. Huawei has a competitive advantage, that is, it has cooperated with more than 500 telecom carriers in over 140 countries through marketing telecom equipment.
In addition to Android, Huawei will offer Windows Phone models, and its smartphones are of a wide retail price range from US$100 to over US$400.
As Taiwan is a major supply source of components, Huawei hopes to set up a representative office and considers establishment of an R&D center in Taiwan. Huawei's fast growing sales of smartphones are expected to benefit its Taiwan-based partners, IC design house MediaTek and OEM maker Foxconn International Holdings.

Canada: Windows 8 available in August for manufacturers, and late October for general public.

WorldWide Tech & Science. Francisco De Jesùs.

Canada: Windows 8 available  in August for manufacturers, and late October for general public.

Microsoft used the morning keynotes to say before 16,000 at the Worldwide Partner Conference in Toronto  that Windows 8 will be released to manufacturing the first week in August and generally available by late October.

The company also announced a plan to let partners resell the Office 365 cloud application suite and bill customers for the subscriptions, eliminating a point of contention that's existed between Microsoft and its partners since Office 365 went live more than a year ago..

"I will tell you, our partners, that this year, this year, is the most important year of unparalleled opportunities," said Ballmer, as exuberant as ever despite battling several balky microphones while speaking in the cavernous Air Canada Center. "The chance to strike, the chance to make a difference, the chance to build your business, the chance to grow," he said.
The theme of Ballmer's address was the wave of new products Microsoft has already introduced this year and will be debuting later this year. "It's Windows, it's Windows Phone, it's Windows Servers, it's Windows Azure, it's Office. It's the core of Microsoft reinventing itself for a modern era," he said. "This year will be the best year ever, ever, ever, to be a Microsoft partner."
Opening the keynote session, Jon Roskill, corporate vice president and head of the worldwide partner group, said Microsoft's partners generated $609 billion in total sales last year, up 13 percent from the previous year. "Microsoft and its partners are getting it right, and we're onto something big," he said.
The Windows 8 general availability announcement, made by Tami Reller, corporate vice president and CFO of Windows and Windows Live, was one of the biggest applause-getters of the morning. Ballmer called Windows 8 "simply the biggest deal for our company in 17 years," a reference to the launch of the breakout Windows 95 desktop OS. "It's a huge opportunity for our partners."
But, upgrades to the current generation Windows 7 has also presented opportunities for partners as well. Reller said more than 50 percent of all enterprise desktop PCs are now running Windows 7 and more than 630 million Windows 7 licenses have been sold overall.
The other big applause generator was the announcement of the Office 365 Open Program under which channel partners can buy Office 365 subscription keys from Microsoft, resell them to customers and directly bill customers for the subscriptions along with other services.
Until now Microsoft controlled the Office 365 billing, a policy some partners felt got between them and their customers.
Partners can continue to offer Office 365 under the existing Office 365 Advisor program under which partners received a percentage of the subscription fees for reference-selling the cloud application suite. Monday, Microsoft announced that it is increasing those margins up to as much as 23 percent, 11 points more than today, when they sell more than 150 seats of Office 365, said Kurt DelBene, president of the Microsoft Office Division.
While virtually every Microsoft executive at one point referred to the new Surface tablets, there was no specific announcement about the role the channel will play in selling them. The Surface announcement has also created tension with Microsoft's OEM partners who manufacture Windows-based tablets.
The executives appeared to be downplaying that tension: Ballmer at one point referred to the Surface devices as "just a design point" and said Microsoft has a "mutual goal" with OEM partners to bring a diversity of devices to market. In her presentation, Reller demonstrated a number of devices from OEM partners running Windows software.
Microsoft also announced that it is acquiring Perceptive Pixel Inc., a New York-based developer of large-scale, multi-touch display technology, for an undisclosed sum. DelBene said the technology can be combined with Windows 8 and hardware from OEM partners to create interactive wall displays and other products.
A demonstration of the technology by Jeff Han, Perceptive Pixel founder and CTO, wowed the audience. Watch this video: http://worldwidegadget.blogspot.com/2012/07/look-what-microsoft-just-bought-video.html
Ballmer and DelBene also touted the potential opportunities for partners that Microsoft's pending acquisition of Yammer, the developer of social networking cloud applications for businesses, will bring. But other than general plans to integrate Yammer with SharePoint, Skype and Lync, there were no specific announcements made.
