Palm webOS :Possible code names of new devices discovered in WebOS 2.0 Doctor

WebOS internals http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Main_Page  has discovered digging deep in the  ROM image for restoring  a webOS device in the application webOS Doctor 2.0 for  the Palm Pre 2 of SFR, a list of codes names, that might be the names of the new 5 or 6 devices coming for  2011.


The codes are:

Flash Player Adobe 10.1 beta is sure coming to your Palm Pre, Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pre 2 with the release of the HP webOS 2.0 update in a few days this November 2010.

With Flash Player 10.1 beta you can watch any flv video you can find on the web, on your Pre.

I was wondering if this Flash Player will come with the plug to allow you to play Flash games or it is just ready? A good question for Abode. Don�t you think.

The video below was made by Adobe  on January 12,2010. was a Palm Pre test of Flash Games on it, showing games like the Celebrity Guess Who, Monster Bash : Arcade style game , Hexxagom and hundred of thousands you can find on the web to play on your Pre.

4 to5 (6) upcoming Palm webos smartphones. But launch when?

Foxcom the company who make the iphones has won the contract to manufacture the next apparently up to 6 new Palm webOS devices plus the Palm Pad.

5 devices in Foxcom (plus the Palm Pad) and 1 with Compal (company who made the Treos) , both are chinese smartphones and mobile hardwares mfgs.

The question is when are these devices going to be launch. Lets speculate.

1.-Palm have the prototype at least of one next gen smartphone or maybe more.
2.-Above mentioned companies were not the only companies who participated in the contest.
3.-So the schedule for devices releases could be:

a) CES 2011 announcements.
b)First launches dates in 3 months or less ( the Palm Pad) , June 2011 (2 smartphones devices)
c)September 2011 (2 smartphones devices.)
d)December 2011 (2 smartphones devices)

or
4.- a) June 2011 (3 smartphones devices)
b) December 2011 (3 smartphones devices)

Yeah, You want a Palm superphone now, but lets be real. If Palm just agreed with these 2 companies, they have to come together with a lot of things to do, a transition period until the manufacturers get along with webOS. UPDATE: Unless they tested already and the releases dates are close to come compared with the above mentioned possible launch dates.

Palm hired ex-Nokias MeeGo Div exec as Senior VP of WebOS and.....

Earlier this month, Ari Jaaksi resigned as head of Nokia's MeeGo division, citing "personal reasons" as the cause for his departure.

Turns out "personal reasons" was actually a euphemism for "I'm joining Palm."

Sources close to the company tell me that Jaaksi has hired on as Senior Vice President of webOS at Hewlett-Packard's Palm division. He's to start in November, after relocating to the Bay Area, and when he does, he'll lead Palm's webOS engineering team.

And Jaaksi isn't Palm's only new high-profile hire. Victoria Coleman, who recently headed up Samsung's R&D Center in San Jose is joining the company as well. Her task: to oversee platform and application development for next generation versions of webOS.

Palm's also managed to pull some talent from within HP as well. Steven McArthur, the SVP of the company's consumer applications business, is now heading up product marketing for Palm. Joining him are Enrique Lores, SVP of PSG worldwide sales, who is leading the Palm sales organization. Steve Manser, SVP of product development, oversees product management.

Quite the line-up, and one that bodes well for Palm's future webOS devices and its future at HP.

At this point you'd have to be in willful denial if you didn't believe that some sort of "Pre 2" is coming before the end of the year, but we weren't sure whether or not the Pixi would also be receiving similar spec-bump treatment.

We still aren't completely sure, of course, but PreCentral user dawm has spotted some interesting details in his app logs: the Palm 'Broadway,' sporting a 320x400 screen (the same resolution as the Pixi) in running two different OSes: 'Nova-Blowfish' and 'Nova-Barleywine.'

We've heard of previous versions of webOS getting fish-related codenames, so this rumor rings true. Also ringing true: the Palm UK-owned IP address they came from. 

We know there are plenty of people out in the world who would use a Pixi over a Pre if it were just a little faster - perhaps the Broadway will make their wish come true?

Microsoft admits to using Palm's webOS technology

ANY SURPRISE that Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 delivers a good experience might be tempered by the announcement that Microsoft has licensed technology from Palm.

The admission from the Vole that it is turning to Palm for help comes days after Microsoft sued Motorola for alleged patent infringement for using Google's Android operating system.

Microsoft has been saying for some time that Android is not free and that it's upcoming Windows Phone 7 operating system protects handset makers from potential litigation, such as its own against Motorola.

Now it seems that Microsoft has licensed technology from Palm in order to both add functionality that it couldn't code up itself and make sure that handset manufacturers who put Windows Phone 7 on their devices won't end up in court.

David Kaefer, general manager of intellectual property and licensing at Microsoft told Reuters, "By focusing on efficiently licensing patented innovations from other companies, we're free to develop great software and we're able to provide our partners and customers intellectual property peace-of-mind."

Although the news that Microsoft is licensing technology from a rival might raise a few eyebrows, the fact that it is Palm isn't all that surprising. Microsoft and Palm's new owner, HP, have a long history and this week at an event in Barcelona, HP gave considerable stage time to Microsoft to wax its lyrical about a 25 year 'special relationship' between the two. We were surprised that a box of tissues wasn't on stage. It is hardly likely that Microsoft will seek help from Google, Apple or the ailing Symbian operating system and risk alienating one of its biggest customers.

Palm's WebOS has been well received and smartphones running the operating system should tip up sometime next year. In the meantime Microsoft will be hoping that some of the same technology will help Windows Phone 7 succeed where its previous smartphone operating systems have failed, and provide stable and reliable service to users.

Windows Phone 7 devices are scheduled to tip up next week in the US.

It make sense Palm making a no physical keyboard smartphone. It was about time. The virtual keyboard app is working very accurate in this times for almost any smartphone brand. Now smartphones are the new pc on your Palm. The trend is to have everything you have on your laptop, netbook or desktop as softwares and services in your smartphone device. (not a CD or DVD optical driver, maybe when the tech bring out an innovate discovery with a nano technology, sure it is in the works. Let us the scienctist work on it)

The pocket beamer is a reality! Ready for a Palm webos smartphone?

The Samsung Galaxy Beam has been stopped to continue manufacturing .It was only released on July 17,2010 for a limited time .The links posted on my before post here http://worldwidegadget.blogspot.com/2010/07/worlds-first-smart-projector-phone.html are not working anymore. That in someway confirms what I am saying.

You can see on the video almost at the end the scientific professor showing the very little dispositive that could be inserted in any smartphone device. He shows the Palm Treo Pro as an example.

What happened with the TouchWiz Android app? or with the Froyo 2.1 in the Samsung Galaxy Beam. Maybe the consumer did not like that updates of Froyo were not coming anymore?

The small projector dispositive could be inserted in a Palm webos smartphone or the Palm Pad easy or any other mobile device .
