Samsung: Sprint to offer Samsung GalaxyTab for $400

Sprint the US nation's No. 3 carrier said it will start selling the tablet Nov. 14 for $399 when paired with a two-year contract. 


Customers will be able to choose a 2 GB data plan with unlimited messaging for $30 per month or a 5 GB data plan with unlimited messaging for $60 per month. Sprint spokesman Mark Elliott confirmed to FierceWireless that Sprint will offer the GalaxyTab without a contract for $600.

Sprint Project 'Leapfrog' CDMA, 3G EV-DO, Wimax and LTE support.

RUMOR MILL: Several sources say Sprint wants a base station platform that can support CDMA, 3G EV-DO, WiMax and possibly Long Term Evolution (LTE) in the future so it can cheaply build out multimode coverage across the US.

Sprint is working on a new base station platform, codenamed "Project Leapfrog," that would allow it to inexpensively improve coverage across its various networks and reduce the amount of roaming fees it pays to other carrier

The operator can reduce the amount of roaming fees that it is currently paying to carriers such as Verizon Wireless and U.S. Cellular Corp.(NYSE: USM) while getting to switch off more of the legacy Nextel Communications Inc. (Nasdaq:NXTL) towers that it has in its network.

Palm Pre 2 : GSM (P102UNA) and CDMA (P102EWW ) for North Americans on FCC

We know the Palm Pre 2 is coming on Friday for SFR France and in the upcoming months for Verizon and Canada. 

The CDMA in the USA P102EWW is for Verizon. (Hope someday for Sprint as well) and the GSM for the USA too P102UNA might go to AT&T or T-Mobile.

I don�t know if the CDMA FCCs authorization works for Canada as well.

Sprint�s Samsung Transform and Sanyo Zio

Sprint is offering more Android phones, including the QWERTY-equipped Samsung Transform and the inexpensive Sanyo Zio.

Mobile operator Sprint is expanding its stable of Android-equipped smartphones as it gears up for the holiday season, adding the new QWERTY-packing Samsung Transform to its lineup to appeal to smartphone customers who lead email- and messaging-intensive lives, along with the Sanyo Zio, aimed at being an inexpensive starter smartphone for folks stepping up from feature phones. Both phones run Android 2.1�although, at least in the Transform�s case, Sprint says Android 2.2 is just around the corner.

Starting off with the Samsung Transform, the device features a 3.5-inch 480 by 320-pixel touchscreen display and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, along with dual cameras (a 3.2 megapixel camera for pictures and a front-facing VGA camera for video chat), along with 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and stereo Bluetooth wireless networking. The Transform is GPS-enabled�so location-aware services all work�and the device operates on Sprint�s 3G EV-DO Rev A network.

 Of course, the phone sports all Android 2.1 capabilities�speech to text, visual voicemail, access to the Android Market, social networking applications, full HTML Web browsing, etc., and users can pack up to 32 GB of movies, music, and more using removable microSD storage. The Transform ties in with Sprint Zone services like Sprint Music Plus, Sprint TV, and Sprint�s NASCAR offerings, and also supports Sprint�s new Sprint ID technology so users can download �ID packs� that make over their phones for a �predefined� experience. Verizon LTE by this fall, AT&T LTE by mid-2011: Cellular providers switch to LTE

Prominent cellular providers in U.S.A are working on converting their networks to high speed 4G/LTE technologies. Following Sprint Nextel, Verizon Wireless and AT&T are soon expected to avail LTE network coverage in major cities in the country.

According to reports, Verizon, the largest cellular provider in the U.S. will commence to transfer network to LTE by the end of the year. Meanwhile, AT&T, the exclusive cellular partner of famous smartphone iPhone will only kick off activities to switch to next generation of network coverage be mid-2011.

In the U.S, it was Sprint that for the first time launched 4G network services. The carrier began to avail the service when it introduced HTC�s fourth-gen smartphone Evo 4G in June. As of now, Sprint provides its 4G WiMAX connectivity in 51 cities. Nashville is supposed to be the next city in the country to get 4G from Sprint, which hopes to cover 120 million customers with 4G by the end of 2010.

AT&T�s Operations CEO John Stankey recently announced at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2010 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference that his carrier will begin to offer 4G technologies by the middle of next year. Stankey said that once started the carrier can provide 4G coverage to at least 70 million customers all over the nation.

It is reported that Verizon plans to launch LTE network in almost 30 U.S. cities by this fall. The carrier has already started testing in Boston. Both the networks have not named the cities, which will get the service in the beginning.
