Internet Tethering Feature Found on iOS 4.2 Beta 2 for iPad

"Cupertino, California-based Apple made available yesterday the second beta of its upcoming iOS 4.2 to registered developers. Already, quite a few new features have been discovered such as new YouTube tools and new iPad app-switching animation.

Today, a new Internet Tethering option was found within the APN network settings on an iPad 3G with iOS 4.2 Beta 2 on European wireless carrier 3. The feature is pretty similar to that found on the iPhone, which suggest that the iPad will be able to provide Internet access rather than receive it.

Do take into account that the feature was/is not accessible from an iPad 3G with iOS 4.2 Beta 2 on AT&T.

The iPad 3G might be able to be tethered in the future. Some believe that the feature might arrive when iOS 4.2 is released in November."

Windows Phone 7 with Tethering Support ?

Following on the heels of the rumors last week regarding tethering support, Microsoft�s Director for Windows Phone 7 (Brandon Watson) announced on the Windows Weekly Podcast (at 1:05:40) that tethering will be supported at launch, but it will be up to the carrier whether it is enabled or not.

This is definitely more in line with what we would have expected, even if it is a little disappointing. What say you? Is tethering one of those key features you were hoping for?
